Derrick (Ricky) Mahfood, Managing Director of Hawkeye, accepted the award on behalf of his company, from BID President, Jose E. Prieto, at a gala dinner in the Conference Hall of the Guoman Tower Hotel on December 4. BID now in its 18th year, have so far recognised companies in 173 countries worldwide.  At this years award function companies from 67 countries were recognized, with Hawkeye Electronic Security Ltd. being the only Caribbean based company.

The awards are open to companies with a proven commitment to quality and in a continuing quest for excellence towards customers through attention to product and services. For nomination, companies have to be first represented and backed by a member of BID’s International Selection Committee, including having the candidate submitted for scrutiny and evaluation of the qualities and characteristics upon which the nominees would be later judged for the International Quality Crown Awards.

Hawkeye’s selection, as noted by a letter to the company from BID, was made based on the criteria of the principles of the QC100 TQM standards, involving customer service, communication strategies, benchmarking, information and data analysis, leadership, planning and decision making, human resources, continuing education and training, processes and production, financial outcome, business results, ISO 9000 and TQM.

The awarded companies are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, which makes them models for other companies of their sectors,� noted BID President, Jose E. Prieto.
